Stop #1 on the I Really Like NJ Diner Tour
Something new we are going to try on the I Really Like NJ Blog is going to be a diner tour. Since New Jersey is the known as the "diner capital of the world" what better way to explore then by visiting some of the best eateries NJ has to offer.
Our first stop on the I Really Like NJ Diner Tour takes us to Westville, New Jersey to The Piston Diner. Located at 821 Crown Point Rd, the diner is somewhat plain from the outside. As you enter you immediately get the vibe that this is place caters to locals. Signs supporting the local police department are prominently displayed at the entrance. The Piston Diner also does a good job giving back to the local community. On the top of their menu it states that "10% of your meal will be donated to a local charity". In fact, the reason we chose the piston first is because we won a gift certificate they donated to a basket auction for the local Lions Club.
Although it was a Sunday morning and seemed rather busy, we were able to be seated quickly in the dining room adjacent to the main dining area. The decor was eclectic Jersey diner style. There were some pictures celebrities and the kids liked the statues of Elvis and the Blues Brothers.
